University of New Mexico

The University of New Mexico group has been a member of ATLAS since 1996. We are two faculty members (Sally Seidel and Igor Gorelov), an electrical engineer (Martin Hoeferkamp), and several graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.  We participated in the design, development, and commissioning of the pixel detector, which is located at the heart of the experiment and used for precise measurements of the tracks of the fundamental particles produced in the collisions.  We are presently developing techniques to identify and study bound states of heavy quarks.
