Florida International University

The CMS detector being lowered into the cavern.

Located in Miami, Florida, Florida International University's Center for High Energy Physics, Education and Outreach (CHEPREO) is involved with the Large Hadron Collider's CMS experiment. Our group includes 4 faculty members, 1 research scientist, and 4 graduate students.

Construction Contributions

We contributed to the construction of the detector control systems for the HCAL, laser calibration for HCAL, slow controls, high and low voltage servers, and a temperature, voltage and moisture monitoring system.

Current Projects and Future Goals

We continue to work with the same hardware and in our analyses we are looking at photons and jets, as well as bosons and jets.

We are moving towards more analysis with the LHC running.
